Council engages in a comprehensive program of maintenance and upgrades of our facilities and Infrastructure. Stay up to date with the latest works and any road closures or other impacts on amenity. The below list includes Council projects, as well as work being completed by other agencies or levels of government.
Allansford Bridge (Princes Highway)
Works: Bridge strengthening works.
Date/duration: Work will begin from Monday May 18 and take up to six weeks, weather permitting.
Impact: As part of a larger Transport Victoria bridge strengthening project, crews will be on site from Monday to Friday, between 7am and 6pm, with the possibility of weekend works. Traffic management will include lane closures and reduced speed limits to protect the safety of crews and road users.

Dennington Bridge (above Drummond St)
Works: Bridge strengthening works
Date/duration: March 23 until June 30.
Impact: Duratec Limited, on behalf of Transport Victoria, will be undertaking structural strengthening works on the bridge over Drummond Street, Dennington. The section of Drummond Street under the bridge will be closed from 9pm to 5am for up to one week from Monday June 22 as crews undertake night works. Drummond Street will reopen outside work hours with a reduced speed limit of 40km/h. At other times there may be lane closures on Princes Highway with alternating traffic while work is being done on the bridge deck. This may be from 7am until 6pm from Monday to Saturday. Lanes will re-open after 6pm.

Henna Street (between Koroit Street & Lava Street)
Works: Footpath renewal on the east side of Henna Street.
Duration: Commencing Monday 25 May 2026 for 2 to 3 weeks.
Impact: Footpath will be closed with pedestrians diverted to west side of Henna Street between Koroit Street and Lava Street.

Henna Street (Timor – Merri), Giffen Street (Clyde – Aitkins), Drummond/Rooneys Intersection
Works: Road resurfacing
Duration: Commencing Monday 25 May 2026 for one week. Each site will to impacted for approximately one day.
Impact: Traffic changes, including temporary road closures and detours, will be in place.

Pertobe Road (Price Street to Stanley Street)
Works: Road resurfacing
Duration: Commencing Monday 15 June, for approximately three days (weather depending).
Impact: Due to a breakdown at our contractor's asphalt plant halting work part-way through, this section of Pertobe Road will fully close from 7pm on Monday June 15 until weather permits work to resume. Traffic control will be on-site to direct local traffic to Barbro Terrace. Anyone wishing to access Viaduct Road and the breakwater precinct can detour vis Harris Street, MacDonald Street and Stanley Street.
